Freebies I find when I'm wandering about

I was out wandering in Blogland yesterday and I found this nifty challenge! It's over at Imagine that digis by Kris    The challenge is called Progressive Freebie Challenge No.1   and the way the challenge works is this and I'm quoting from her site now

" Welcome to our very first Progressive Freebie Challenge where everyone who plays, WINS!!  We'll have new challenges on the 1st and 15th of each month.

To receive the next challenge image FREE, just use this image in your creation and link up using our linky at the end of the post.  I also ask that you please link to this challenge blog in your post (those of you who have blogs)  That's it!  If you don't have an online gallery or blog, you may email your entry to me at krisb33@yahoo.com. All who enter using this image will receive the next challenge image FREE!! Those who come in after this initial challenge will still be able to enter if they buy the challenge image in our store and enter.  So as long as you keep playing in each challenge, you will keep receiving free digis!"

Now doesn't that sound really cool? The image is of a pot of flowers with a nice big bow on it with a little tag hanging off that says "my friend". You can also buy the digi if you dont find this post by Feb 28th. But! If you post a card you will be able to get the next digi free and on and on and on.

So here is my card that I made from the digi. The sentiment is from another stamp made by PSX in 1995 I think I'm dating myself just a little bit lol!

The white card stock is Georgia Pacific and the teal is from Michael's Recollections. I also added some holographic gold dazzle dots to the centers of the daisies after the photo was taken.  So there you go and I hope you join in the fun and get some free digis to boot!

Now I'd better get moving on Sundays sketch challenge at Operation Write Home and last weeks mid week throw down and the firm focal image.. hmmmm id better get busy or I'm going to meet myself as I am running in circles!

Have a great day everyone!!

VCMP! Virtual Card Making Party at Operationwritehome.org

OK This weekend I will be posting lots of cards as we are making cards all weekend for OWH !We are blog hopping like little eager bunnies to find out what the next challenge is. The challenges are posted every two hours on the Presidents’ Day Weekend VCMP: Master Thread!

The first hop led us to Ericka's blog Scrappin Intervention  where we had to make a card using chevrons which are just about everywhere lately! so this is my card for that challenge

Next stop is over at Misty's blog Delightful Gifts where we have to make a card using a critter of some sort for a kid. Her theme is 'All Creatures Great and Small; Cards for Kids! I think i have the perfect digi for this to go along with a stamp my hubby bought me recently (isn't he just a sweetie??) OK.. off to make the card i will post it here in a bit. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Ugg my body has had other plans for me today than card making. Being disabled sometimes means not doing what you want to do when you want to do it.. but today its a simple head cold and after sneezing on my cardstock 3 times.. i gave up for the day and went to bed.. and now im going back to bed as it is 2am and all good little cardmakers should get some sleep. I'll be back at it tomorrow... well today and hopefully will get all my cards done before everything closes up. Hang in there folks, Sunday is coming up!

ok I think my body is going to let me post these cards. Just normal for me.. day late and a dollar short but I got them all done.. 9 of them i will send on.. the 10th... well lets just say umm... it was an experiment that REALLY FAILED big time! I'll let you know which one it is.. but i think you will be able to figure it out! So on with the cards!

#2 was  All Creatures Great and Small  over at http://deliteful-gifts.blogspot.com/  and here is the card: I got the little giraffe stamp at paperwishes.com and the little turtlebee i think i got at doodle stampers. the little bee was from a set of those round little pre-inked stampers kids use. I sparkled the wings on the bee and the turtle then brushed them with diamond glaze just to be safe. The card topper was run through a cuttle bug folder in red and white.. then i cut out the inside of the white one and fit it to the red panel. popped the giraffe and turtlebee up on foam tape and there ya are.

Hope #3 was Texture Omit/Selective Embossing over at http://bunnyscrap.blogspot.com/ and here is my card : The metal looking part is the foil tape used for sealing up the exhaust on your dryer! just stuck it to my card top and folded over any edges to the back then run it through my cuttle bug folder with the bottom part sticking out. my husband really liked it and said he wouldn't mind getting it for any occasion!

#4 was Things With Wings at http://penguinpapers.net/ and here is my card (and the only one i did an inside for) I just love this little owl. He comes from a small set at paperwishes.com and the mortarboard hat came from a studio G set i picked up at Michael's at some time or another. and the diploma is just a rolled up strip of card stock tied with some tough thread and glued down.
#5 was Disappearing Act with Sketch 63 at http://thecrookedstamper.blogspot.com/  and here is my card: I had actually cut this paper before the challenge because i was going to use the individual squares on a card but they didn't come out all that good looking to be honest.. this looks much better and don't let those paper flowers fool you.. they are tough! they have their own foam circle under them but i also added a little mono adhesive from Tombow just to make sure they weren't going anywhere

whew! halfway there!!

#6 was Things with Wheels  at http://linda-creepinalong.blogspot.com/ and wouldn't you know it but i didn't have a single stamp of anything with wheels so here i had to improvise and i went with pinwheels. The insides of the pinwheels are button stamps that I got at paperwishes.com and sealed with diamond glaze. The card stock is also from paper wishes it comes in 8x8 sets and has the two colors so when you sand you either get black or white. I love it.

Hop #7 was Caffeine Challenge at  http://sparklewithin.blogspot.com/ mmm caffeine MUST have some daily! Here is my card:  With this card i stamped the teacups from a set from www.paperwishes.com and after coloring them with gel pens then the matching sparkle pens i covered them with diamond glaze i stamped the sentiment then popped the dry and very ceramic looking tea cups up on foam tape giving them lots of dimension!
#8 was Washi Tape at  http://indianainking.blogspot.com/   and here is where I ran into problems.. I don't own any washi tape.. none.. nada .. zipparoni! So, I thought ok.. i don't have the washi tape what can i use instead... ah! sheer ribbon! So, I tried to use clear gel glue to glue down the sheer ribbons... let's just say I should have probably just used my ATG gun and left it at that.... THIS is the card that wont go any father than right here :

it actually looks a little better in the picture than it does in person... but not very much

Mooving along now....

#9 was All White/Cream with 3 Layers. at  http://desertroseoutpost.blogspot.com/ .. now if you think there aren't at least 3 layers... the stem of the flower is actually 4 thicknesses of paper I used 1/8th inch wide pearlized white quilling paper.

woo hooo and here we are at number 10!

#10 was Glam Without Glitter at  http://104cards.blogspot.com/ I had fun with this one.. i was able to use my double stick Dazzles and foil paper very fun! Both the double stick Dazzles and the hummingbird dazzles and the foil are all from paper wishes. I love the place if you haven't figure that out LOL and every week they post a new webisode demonstrating a new product or new technique check them out you wont be disappointed!

So, there are my ten cards I hope you liked them. I had a lot of fun. this is my very first blog hop! cant wait for more!

Midweek Throwdown Color Challenge posted Feb 13, 2013

Well, I FINALLY have something to post. this is the card I made for the Midweek Throwdown Color Challenge posted by Jan on the Stars and Stamps blog at Operation Write Home .

The challenge was to use your state flag colors to make a card. I'm from California so we have a brown bear on a patch of green grass with a red star in the upper left corner and a red stripe at the bottom. So here is my card, I hope you like it!

I added a little sparkle to the owl's eyes but other than that.. I tried to keep it pretty simple. The background of the card is just some thinking of you, congrats, way to go and star stamps embossed with clear embossing powder. I just put all the stamps on my medium rock a block and stamped the background twice. So, there it is. My first card posting. Have a great week everyone!
